Junior Tyler Snyder’s absence from McMinnville’s boys golf team has taken a toll in more ways than one. For starters, it’s unclear how long he’ll be away.
There’s the consistency he brought to Mac’s scores every tournament, as well as leadership of being a varsity golfer for three seasons. But perhaps the biggest impact his recent struggle with appendicitis has had can be seen on the Grizzlies’ bus rides to and from tournaments.

Amid the wreckage of one season, another one blossoms. A month and a half after the McMinnville High School girls basketball team finished its schedule with a 5-19 won-lost record, the softball season is helping a group of seniors rediscover success.
As of Friday, Mac was ranked No. 1 by the OSAA and was in first place in the Pacific Conference. The Grizzlies have raced out to a 12-0 start. Already, it’s one more win than Mac had all of last season.

Dayton High School’s baseball doubleheader Thursday with Warrenton ended with a picture-perfect double play.
Hayden Craig delivered his 113th pitch of the afternoon, and the Warriors batter hit a solid ground ball to shortstop Blake Coleman. He flicked it to second baseman Gabe Louthan, who set his feet in front of the base and tossed the ball to first, where Ben Manley stretched his arm to catch it.

COOS BAY — Deep in the bowels of Marshfield High School, a locker room door was open. The only sounds were the sniffs and sobs of Dayton boys basketball players.
The quiet extended out into the unlit hallway, then suddenly vanished into a wall of cheers and exuberant celebration echoing down the stairwell from above.
